Eduard Schickl, a graduate of the Fachschule für Keramik und verwandte Kunstgewerbe in Teplitz-Schönau and the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts, apprenticed at the vocational school in Znojmo until it was closed. From 1922 he worked as a teacher, and in 1929–1938 he was the administrator and headmaster of the State Technical School for Porcelain Industry in Carlsbad.

This unique monumental vase, which was produced right at the school workshops in Fischern, was especially designed and decorated to represent the technical school at the 1928 Exhibition of Contemporary

Culture in Brno. It was acquired at auction in 2009 for the museum collections, specifically to complement the collection of Art Deco porcelain. (lmp)
